A
Acrylic adhesive, acrylate adhesive
The chemical basis is a polymerized Acrylate. Acrylate adhesives may or may
not be modified with synthetic resins. Acrylate adhesives are becoming more
and more popular, thanks to their environmentally friendly characteristics.
Adhesive strength
The strength required to removed an adhered adhesive from a surface.
A standard is chosen to ensure comparable results, for example, a 25mm wide
strip of adhesive film is adhered to a polished steel plate and then removed,
at a set time interval, with a set speed, at a 180° angle. The necessary removal
strength is measured in Newtons.
Age-resistance
All adhesive products age and change their characteristics accordingly.
These chemical and physical changes do not necessarily have a negative effect
on the product, for example, their are some products that have a higher bonding
strength with age. Nevertheless, changes in characteristics should not be
measurable within the first 6 months. A product is said to have good age-
resistance if no changes in characteristics can be measured after 12 months.
