H
Hot-melt adhesive
This adhesive is produced from dry, non-adhesive synthetic resins, which
are melted and upon cooling exhibit a high level of tackiness and adhesion.
The advantage of this adhesive is the high adhesion level at normal temperatures.
The disadvantages are its sensitivity to temperatures above 40°C and UV-rays, its
lack of resistance against softening agents and its low level of age-resistance.
I
Initial adhesion
Many adhesives, particularly those acrylic-based, only reach their full adhesive strength after 24 hours. Often however, it is necessary that the full adhesion
strength be reached directly after processing. In such cases, the initial adhesion strength of a material is critical.
